Let me introduce you to Johnson. He is 7 years old and he has been at this orphanage for over a year now. He lives here along with his two sistes(whom you will meet later). His parents are actually alive and live in India but are too poor to afford to take care of the kids. Johnson sees his parents once a year.

This is a close up of what the kids eat for breakfast every morning. Before cooked, obvisiously.

This is the final product. Kind of the Indian equivalent of pancakes.

Johnson in his school appointed uniform. He attends school from 7:00 a.m to 12 p.m. Before school is breakfast and a 6 a.m. prayer session with the other kids.

The one school supply he owned.

After retuning from school, its lunch time an if there would be one picture that could sum up a good portion of his life. It would be this one. Breakfast, lunch and dinner always involves waiting in a line. And rice is almost always a main ingredient. He is lucky though, as one of the younger ones, he gets to be up front in line.

The older kids are not so lucky. Especially if your an older boy. Then you will be going last at each meal and get real comfy with this kind of line.

After receiving the food Johnson gathers with his group of buddies to chow down at the usual spot in the dirt underneath the shade of a tree.

Three times a day. That’s how many times you will find Johnson and the other kids worshipping and praying. This is a picture during the afternoon session.

After afternoon prayer, the older kids go to work on an appointed task. While the younger kids get to play. Johnson’s favorite thing to do is jump rope!

When he gets older though he will join in on one of the afternoon chores that are designed to teach the kids discipline and give them usefull skills that will help them later in life.

Nightime has come and the third of the prayer sessions has ended. Along with the chores, play time and homework. Johnson returns to his bedroom with 30 of his brothers and climbs into his triple decker bed, hoping not to sweat too much as he falls asleep.

Hope you enjoyed a day in the life of Johnson!
