I have finally settled on a t-shirt design, thanks to Fund the Nations. They were very helpful and did a great job.  I actually found them through another racer, who posted the shirt they designed for her on her blog.  So I wanted to do the same, in case there are any other racers who need help.  Here’s what mine looks like:

I had a few things that I wanted to get in there. I love the phrase, which is something that I realized when I went on a trip to Europe a few years ago. No matter what language we speak, a smile is universal.

There will be times when I’m on this trip that I won’t be able to understand the language of the people I’m working with. The other racers might be the only people around who I’ll be able to speak to. But smiles and laughter are a language all their own, and all of us know what that means.

Proverbs 15:30 says “a cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.” And that’s exactly what I wanted to express with this shirt. There is nothing quite like a smile. Whether it’s from a stranger on the street, an orphan in Haiti, or a trafficked girl in Thailand. I want this shirt to encourage people to smile and to remember that despite our misunderstanding, we all know what a smile means.

P.S. If you’d like to purchase one, please let me know. I’m selling them for $25 a piece and they come in sizes S-XXL. You can email me at [email protected] to place an order.
