I’m tempted to make this read like a story, but there is so much to say that it would become a novel. Instead I will just highlight a few things.
I was born in Mae Hong Son, Thailand into an amazing Christian missionary family, and have spent almost half of my life over there. I never thought the missions field was for me, but here I am. I s
pent 11 months in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 2004-05 working as an independent missionary at an international school, and I was hooked. Christ has really laid it upon my heart to go out into the nations and share what He has done.
I had the huge privilege of participating in the World Race* from Sept 2007 to July 2008. I really feel like that was such a pivotal point in my life because Christ revealed some major areas that I needed to work on in order to look and act more like Him. It humbled and broke me over and over again. I even had the amazing opportunity to take care of an infant in his last two weeks here on earth. My life will never be the same because of what I learned through Moses and other relationships on the field. I feel like an entirely different person now that I have completed that journey.
Since the World Race I have been able to lead a three-month, college-age mission trip to Kenya as well as a one-month, high school mission trip to Ireland. I am currently serving on the field in Nsoko, Swaziland–the home of Moses’ family. I am also recently engaged to Nick Derington who is in the last few months of his own World Race journey.
Surrender is a daily task, and the “Christian” life is often not easy…but it has been far more rewarding than I ever anticipated.
I am very close with my family and I love each one of them very much. I’m a bit of a gypsy and find it easy to relocate at the drop of a hat…or plane ticket. I’ve been known to take ridiculously long road trips just because I can. My earthly passions are music and photography.
