Preface:
God speaks. We just have to learn to listen more than we talk. God has unshakable identity to root in us. We just have to claim who we are and let Him do the rest.
Prayer for this month: It’s about me and You Jesus! I am working more on listening and hearing You speak my unshakable identity into the bones of my soul. You are calling me to more alone time with You.
(Insert laugh because 1) God is good but 2) He uses all things, and I mean all things in wonderful, funny and ironic ways to show us His goodness)
I am currently typing this blog from my isolated room where I am wearing a sky blue face mask and getting lots of rest. I have the Mumps, a virus that causes swelling of the face, fever, headaches and aches. Before today, I didn’t even really know what mumps was and since I was vaccinated twice as a child, it was kinda odd to hear that was the verdict. Oh well, just wait and hear how the Mumps was an answer to a prayer; not directly getting this virus, but the effect of having it at this time on my race.
After working with the sweetest of kiddos last month, this pesky little virus hitched a ride on my immune system. Over 50 percent of our sweet Cambodian students had mumps. It’s painful and scary; because other than rest and few meds, it goes away on its own.
I went to the Emergency Clinic the other day and after receiving my diagnosis, the main point for healing was isolated rest. 5-7 days of isolated rest. At first my heart sank because I didn’t want to miss out on ministry; I love our host and work this month. Vietnam is stunning and has already captivated my heart. Shortly after my heart sinking, I remembered a prayer I prayed. “Lord this month is a special month, set aside for me and You and grow infinitely closer. I need to be more quiet to hear Your voice- do what you need to open the channel of me hearing Your voice.”
Tears were streaming down my face as so many emotions were running through me, as well as pain. Why mumps? Why now? What is this helping Daddy?
His answer: It’s helping us. You asked to be rooted deeper and here are some words I wanted to speak into your heart in these moments of quiet rest.
11 truths He is speaking!
1) You are more than enough!
2) You are radiantly beautiful!
3) You don’t need to change to fit the people around you; don’t let life seep into the simplicity I have given you.
4) My daughter, you are a leader without a title- a leader of love and light, free to impact and dance.
5) You are being rooted more and more in me; deeper than any depths you prayed or imagined-because I love you.
6) You are worthy; especially in the area of marriage. The man I have for you is totally unique and awesome in all the ways I made him. He is coming your way; just be you.
7) Keep dreaming BIG!
8) Never lose your adventure and know the heart I gave you for the nations is being used!
9) Keep dancing in the lightness I breathe and pull others in to dance and fly !
10) Nothing confines me, and since I live in you, nothing confines you! Keep living boldly and with love. You are stunning, don’t try and be like anyone else. You are rare, all my children are rare!
11) God uses all things for our good and there is such beauty in quiet times; His voice is heard best in whispers.
So as I rest for the next week, these truths get to be more rooted. They get to shine and they get to sink into every piece of me, deeper and deeper. Prayers for continued healing and new strength are appreciated, as well as the swelling to go down.
