19 hours on 3 different planes in 3 countries.
17 hours of layovers and waiting in airports.
9 hours on a bus.
45 hours of travel time later and we are in southern India!
Month 1 of The World Race has officially started.
And it's HOT!

This is serial.
This can't be happening.
Are we really here?

This month we'll be working with two different children's homes painting buildings and playing with kids. The ministry, which has asked to remain anonymous, has been serving in this area of India for nearly 30 years! Their main ministry is church planting, but they have other various ministries as well.

Indian food is spicy. Very spicy. Spicy food doesn’t sit well with me. Jeremy, on the other hand, is loving it. Tonight at dinner, we shared a plate—big mistake! My mouth was on fire. Afterwards, after we were done, someone came around with a huge pot full of rice for us to finish eating. Somehow I ended up being one of the ones that had a plate literally thrown on my lap and another two big scoops full of rice. And I thought I was going to lose weight this year?

WELCOME TO THE WORLD RACE.

While it still doesn’t seem real that we’re sitting in a church in Andhra Pradesh, India, it is totally real. We are here. We are doing this thing. We are World Racers. People are going to hear the gospel. Children are going to feel loved. Churches will be built. Lives will be renewed.

I’ll be honest: I already miss life back in America, and we’ve only been gone for 3 days. Understanding that this is our lives for the next year is a hard one to swallow. It’s a strange feeling, especially since this is not the first time I’ve done this. But I think it’s starting to set in with me that we aren’t going “home” for almost a year. It’s going to be a good year. Albeit a tough year, a good one.

Take a ride in a Tuk Tuk if you ever get the chance to come to India. It’s an adventure you won’t soon forget. Jeremy was all too UNfamiliar with this experience, and a little freaked out at the driving.
I thought it was a fun adventure to be enjoyed. Try it. It’s fun.
