First, we want to apologize to everybody for our lack of blogging lately. Our internet situation is incredibly difficult. If Jesus were here and wanted to give a good parable, he would not talk about a camel going through the eye of a needle. Jesus would simply say that it is easier for a World Racer to blog in Haiti than for a rich man to get into heaven. Anybody that had been here before would know that only through God would clear internet be possible.
That being said, we arrived safe and sound in Grand Goave, Haiti on Monday, October 3, 2012. If you want to know where Grand Goave is, make a C shape with your right hand. The backward C that is formed is the shape of Haiti. We are roughly where the knuckle of your thumb is located.
This month, we are working with Mission of Hope International. They have a really good website that you can check out at www.mohintl.org. Essentially, Mission of Hope is currently building a new school/church to replace a building that was destroyed in the earthquake. Most of our time here is devoted to construction. We are becoming experts with hammers and crowbars. The weather is extremely hot and we are a sweaty mess by the end of the day. However, we know that this school/church will impact the lives of Haitians for many years to come. Thousands of souls will be saved because the light that this church will shine into the darkness of Haiti.
On Sunday, we hold an English service at the church where racers lead worship and preach. I was slated to preach last night, but wires got crossed and a missionary from an orphanage down the road ended up preaching. It was so nice to sit in a church service and be able to understand everything that was going on. The last time that happened, we were in America.
Starting this week, we will spend one afternoon a week going into the village to visit houses and spread the gospel. I am looking forward to meeting more of the people. We are also going to visit Hands and Feet Orphanage. For those of you who love christian music, Hands and Feet is the orphanage started by the members of Audio Adrenaline.
We will try to blog more later in the month. Please be praying for us. Haiti is an incredibly dark place and we need your prayers more than ever. We love you and thank you for all your support.
