These are questions that y'all asked. I hope that this is everything you wanted to know from Central America.
1. Favorite location so far-
> Antigua, Guatemala. The city is absolutely beautiful and, thanks to the UN, really safe. There is a lot to do also between the city and the volcanoes. There is nothing I didn't like about Antigua.
2. Favorite food
> Plantains. They are just as good as I remember them being from when I was in Peru.
3. Least favorite food
> Hot dogs. Believe it or not, we ate hot dogs in Honduras and they really are disgusting. Also, certain types of cheeses smell gross and taste worse.
4. Best quote per country
>Guatemala- I can't remember exactly what the quote was but I asked Gable a question and he rapped back. I had no idea what he said but it was kinda awesome.
> Nicaragua- They're pretty but you can't touch them.
5. What is the biggest miracle you've witnessed so far? Could you share a specific time where God intervened and you saw his hand at work?
> Our team was in Los Pinos in Honduras praying for a grandmother of some of the kids. We just began to pray as Joan asks God to descend on the room and the woman collapses. She clenched our hands and shook violently while crying out for the next half an hour our so. After she was sitting up, she told us that there had been something inside of her and, during our prayer, it rushed out of her. She began to feel better and was praising God as the source of her healing.
> There are many times that God has told me something to tell someone else when I had no idea what it meant. I had to trust that God had greater plans for my words. Most recently, I told Sidney Ann that she didn't have to have all the answers. I didn't know what it meant at the time; but, now, Sidney Ann is one of our new squad leaders.
6. Favorite little sister who you left at home
> Um… Um…. Um….
7. Greatest struggle and your fight to overcome it
> My biggest struggle was feeling like my Christian walk was an experiment every day. I knew that God had it all under control; but, I never quite knew what was going on. The first time I prayed for healing, it was over Luke and Gabe and all that was running through my head was "I sure hope I do this right." When I sing out load during group prayer, I think "God, I hope you're really telling me to do this." It has taken me a while to really understand this as stepping out in faith; although some days, I still feel like it's an experiment.
8. Which ministry has touched your heart the most and is it a new found passion? Of everyone you have met, you is the foremost in your mind?
> Strangely, my favorite ministry was the old folks home in Guatemala. It was the most unexpected ministry for me. I didn't expect to like it but it was awesome. They were filled with such joy and wonder. I learned a lot about child like faith from them.
> The people foremost in my mind are related to recent team changes- my old team, the people who are now with my old team, and my new team.
9. How is God changing you? What is the most challenging part of your trip?
> One of the biggest changes is that God has taught me how important personal contact is. In turn, I have learned how to hug people and let them hug me.
> One of the most challenging things for me is that I feel as though I'm not effective. We've had ministry where it seemed as though did nothing. God taught me that I will never know the extent of my impact.
