Volcano San Pedro is conquered!!! The Ama-Jikelazas climbed to the top in only 2 hours 45 minutes! The journey on the volcano was also a journey of faith as we experienced His breath-taking creation of an amalgamation of green colours covering the old, wise trees of the volcano. The climb is very steep and 4000 meter high, but God´s strength in us made it possible to succeed. Anthony and Clara were both in adventure ministry last year, thus very used to climbing. Estee and I (Liesl) weren´t fit for climbing, but for dancing, so only God could get us up the volcano that quickly! Our team stood together and encouraged each other all the way. It was a great experience to be able to feel God´s precense, the team´s compassion and to see the view of San Pedro and Lake Atitlan from the top.
Our ministry in Guatemala starts tomorrow. Each team could choose their own ministry in San Pedro or one of the towns nearby. We decided on helping Michelle (see our previous posts) in Panajachel, ministering to children, teaching them to play and showing them God´s love. We also wanted to help a few selected families in the area with physical needs. All the doors closed when we started preparing, so we prayed to seek God´s wisdom. We concluded to take a day of rest and preparation tomorrow, also praying and fasting to seek God´s will and be taught by Him.
We ask that you will pray with us to find out God´s plan for us in Guatemala. Please also pray for our finances, that God will bless us in order to bless the nations. Pray for the safety and wisdom for each of the Ama-Jikalezas.
