Koh Sireh Island

Greetings from out of Sea Gypsy Village!

We were dropped off in Sea Gypsy Village with only our backpacks on our backs and God in our hearts.
Scouting for a “Man of peace” as in Luke10, our first reply was: ”You cannot stay in this village.
Go stay in the bungalows.” But God put us here for a reason, so we kept on searching, walking through this little town, greeting and smiling, hoping to find a place to stay.
Mister Khan finally welcomed us into the village, offering help at any time to us and recommending us to camp at the local restaurant and karaoke bar near his house.

They agreed and as we were on our way there, a lady offered to help us with our backpacks.
She wore a shirt with “help your neighbor foundation” written on and turned out to be a sister in Christ! Thank you, God!
Her name is Joy and that is exactly what she brought us!

Our main goal here was to put together a presentation about the Sea Gypsy’s that will be used for a foundation for future missionaries.
Not speaking their language we just went on a neighborhood stroll.
So we smiled at the people watched what they were doing, greeted the suspicious expressions and simply sat and enjoyed the company of the gypsy’s.
Some of our newly made friends even gave us a bag of fish as a gift for dinner!

The Sea Gypsy Village truly became our home in these few days!
Some boys made our little tent camp their new place to hang out, so the constantly provided us with mangos, durians, nuts, crabs and sand mussels they found.
Walking through the town, we would be greeted and smiled at, some even being invited to join in for a meal or just socializing.

On Easter Sunday we were invited to Cherngtaleng Church, the church where Joy was the worship leader.
It was amazing to see a bus coming to pick us up, filled with about 30 believing Gypsy’s.
The worship, fellowship and message touched our hearts so much!
God is really moving in Thailand, getting all His lost sheep back again.

Afterwards there was an Easter egg hunt and a traditional Thai lunch at the Church.

We learned a lot from these people.
Their hospitality, friendliness and the joy they get out of life will forever be with us as we remember every smiling face and every caring heart of every Sea Gypsy on Koh Sireh Island who accepted us into their beautiful village.
