On arrival in Dongxiang we met up with David and Stacy Deems who helped us settle into the hotel.
We accompanied David on a 2 hour walk to one of the villages to pray for the contruction site of
the new school. While quietly sitting in Gods presence one of the elders of the village approached us and invited us
for what we thought would be tea only, but in the end they served us a local dish. We smiled because South Africans
love lamb meat…
We did not know what a breakthrough it was until David told us that it was not a common thing to do: have a
meal with all the elders of the village. We used the best Afrikaans to communicate and it worked. The leader repeated it
over and over; oh Afrika! Afrika!
The children were very suspicious and afraid of us but after a few games of; take five, skip and jump we had loads of fun.
On our way up the mountain we relived pipe piper because we had all the children follow us back home.
This day was filled with adventure and around every corner it was war, snowballs came flying from nowhere.
For some of us this was the first time we touched snow, therefore they were baptized by snow!!
