Our time in Comalteco is drawing to a close.  Last night was our celebration fiesta service, and tomorrow we leave for Palenque.  Our time here has flown by so fast!

The fiesta last night was a great success!  Thank you to everyone that prayed for us.  Despite the third day of rain in a row, we had approximately sixty people show up for the fiesta, including ten new families and a large group of young people.  God is at work in Mirador and Garanchos, and with the powerful way the local believers pray, we have little doubt that the Spirit will continue to do great things for years to come!

Casey continued our lesson series on listening to the voice of God, and Katherine translated.  Different people from the local church got up and gave testimonies, sang songs with the band, and led cheers for God.  Our team sang ‘I Will Worship,’ and though we sang in English and no one knew what we were saying, no one seemed to mind.  And then after teh service, there was dancing and tamales for everyone!  We Americans, because of our previous…experiences with tamales. were served fried chicken and mashed potatos!  A little taste of home!

We give all thanks to God for a great time with our brothers and sisters here.

Today, we went to the Mayan ruins at Tajin for a little tourism and rest.  We also took the opportunity to do some devotional reading and praying on the grounds of the ruins, to reclaim the area for the Lord.  We took tons of pictures there, and we’ll post some very soon.

Tonight, we have another special treat.  In Mirador, there is a woman named Librada who is more than 100 years old.  Katherine, Sarah, and I met here and prayed with her earlier in the week.  She gave her life to the Lord at the age of 95, and it is a frustration for her that she isn’t able to serve the church the way she wants to.  We encouraged her and told her that she may not be able to cook and clean anymore, but she can still pray for us and for the church, and that is better than any other service she could provide.

Well, we found out last night that Librada has requested that our whole team come to see her one more time before we leave.  She wants to lay her hands on us, and bless us, and pray for the rest of our journey.  So we’re going to see her tonight, and tomorrow we will go on our way covered in the blessings and prayers of a 100-year-old saint.  ¡Gloria a Dios!

See you all in Palenque.
