Surprises Just Around the Corner

On Monday night our team prayed that we would find the end of ourselves and simply rely on Jesus. We made it our goal this month to meet some new people and some new contacts that future World Race teams could partner with. Other teams have looked for new contacts before as well, and they searched the web and used Internet to find dozens upon dozens of contacts, which is an amazing thing.
As we sat around in our two-roomed, no Internet for 40 miles for building, we realized that we do not have the resources to simply reach a whole bunch of contacts. So that is why we prayed, we prayed that God would be our resource and he would provide, rather us trying to do it all on our own.
Monday night we went to bed, to get enough sleep for the next day. After breakfast on Tuesday morning, we started walking down the road, seeing where God was leading us. We turned right and walking for about 300 yards when something caught our eye. To our surprise it was 4 men, 4 American men working on a building. So we stopped and actually got to speak in English to them, it was a small gift. As we continued to get to know them, we learned that they are from Washington, near the Tri-City area and they were here on a weeklong mission trip.
Their names are Wes, Deno, Tim, and Ruben. These four men were putting a roof on a new church in the area and the pastor’s name is Sebastian. Sebastian spoke English very well and welcomed us in to talk. We quickly learned that he was building a dorm with bunk beds so missionary teams could stay here while they worked and he was looking for missionary teams to host.
As the conversation went on, we learned more about these 4 men and the Pastor. They told us about an outreach service they were putting on in a town 25 minutes away called Belen. They invited us to go, so we went. The service was great, and many people got prayed for, it was a sight to see.
It was really encouraging to see these American men who had careers, kids, and wives all back in the states, come to a remote part of Honduras to serve in this way. Its great to see that young college kids are not the only one’s going to the nations and telling people about Christ. So Wes, Ruben, Deno, and Tim, thank you for being men of God and leading by serving. I look up to all of you.
The amazing thing is, is that God always provides, we just have to give him the chance. We are often to controlling that we don’t want to give God a chance because we are afraid he will let us down. The truth is that he wont, that he will actually blow your mind, and sometimes the most amazing surprises God has for us are just around the corner…literally.
