Today was a great day. Sebastian invited Nathan and I to go into the mountains with him, and we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. We hopped into the back of a truck at 11:30 AM and started driving down the road. Very shortly after we took off, we turned off the main road and made our way up the mountain on a bumpy dirt path. We traveled up this path for about 40 minutes until we came up to a little house in the middle of nowhere.
We stopped, jumped out and introduced ourselves to the family that lived there. The whole family and our group ended up talking on their porch for a good 45 minutes or so, and then they offered us lunch. The meal was delicious, and extremely filling. As we ate our chicken, rice, beans, and tortillas we tried to make small talk through the little Spanish that we knew.
After lunch we learned why we there. Apparently Sebastian has his own Christian radio station on Saturdays and this family listens to his station. They then called Him and asked if he would come and visit them, so he said yes. As Sebastian translated for us we found out that this family of about 7 or 8 had gone through quite a bit of hardship lately and needed some encouragement. Each of us took turns speaking some truth into their lives and it was amazing.
After we had shared for a few minutes, the father of the household began sharing how thankful he was that we came and encouraged him and his family. Then, one of the women that came with us asked him if he would like to let Jesus in and begin a relationship with him. The man began to tell us that he had done that before but would love to rededicate his life to the Lord. We all were very excited for him and began to pray for and over him. At this point his whole family was crying tears of joy; it was a beautiful thing to see.
After that we said our goodbyes and hopped back into the truck for our 40 minute ride back down the bumpy mountain path. As I sat in the back in truck I realized how lucky I was. I realized how lucky and honored I was to be a part of that. That God allowed me to witness and experience another man, in the middle of nowhere, who Jesus is crazy about, give his life back to the Lord and it benefit an entire family immediately. I am so thankful that I get to experience that and I hope I never take advantage or become numb to the feeling of that experience.
Thank you Jesus.
