God works in so many different ways. And that is one thing that really amazes me about him. Not only is he the creator of everything, not only did he send his son to die for us and pay the debt that we deserve to pay, but he also entrusts us with the “counselor”, or better known as the Holy spirit.
In the book of John, Jesus talks about when he leaves; it is actually a good thing because then, God will give us the Holy Spirit. Jesus says that when he leaves and that with the Holy Spirit, we do even greater things than he did. That is a pretty bold statement, that’s also a pretty big commission. The question is, do we actually believe that? Do we believe that we actually have the spirit of Jesus within us? That’s a difficult question because if we say yes, that holds us accountable to that and it may make us seem weird in certain circles that we hang out in. but if we say no, than that means we are not too sure that what the bible says is true but maybe not true for us.
So we can get stuck in this middle ground where we believe its possible but we aren’t too sure if we want it to be true because that is a lot of responsibility. If we believe that God created the earth and then sent his son to die for us, why is it so hard to believe that God, through Jesus could give us the power to heal, prophesy, speak truth, and many other things? The reason is, is because if we can do that, that means that we are some sort of super hero or something.
So what would you do if you were to put your hands on a man who had not walked for 38 years, prayed for him to be able to walk, and then he got up and walked? That would be crazy!!!! That would probably be the most amazing thing you had ever seen. And you would be surprised beyond belief. If it were I I may say a few cuss words and jump up and down a little. Then I would blog, tweet, status update, instagram, journal, and tell all my friends about it, I might even write a book about it.
I have some news for you all; the truth is, is that if you have Christ in you that means that you have the Holy Spirit in you as well. And if you have the Holy Spirit in you that means you have power to do those kinds of things. In John 15:12 it says “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the father”. So why is this so hard to accept? I’ll answer that question in my next blog.
