I Have Some Good News, and Some Bad News

Part: 4

What would you like to hear first, the good news or the bad news? We will start with the bad news.
The Bad News
What if I were to tell you that there was nothing we could do on our own to fix ourselves? Or that anything we try to do to on our own to get us out of the hole we have dug ourselves into won’t be enough? If I were you, I wouldn’t believe me, I would be angry and defensive because you are telling me that I cant do something, and then I would try to prove me wrong.
Sorry to disappoint you, but that is exactly what I am telling you. Now we can clean ourselves up a bit, and make ourselves look a little more presentable, but that is like putting perfume on a corpse. We are still in the hole we put ourselves in.
By cleaning ourselves up a little, it gives the perception to others that we are not broken and that we have it all together. By doing that it gives the chance to continue to dig farther and farther down and gives us the perception that if we keep digging we will hit China and dig ourselves out. All the while we are screaming inside for someone to grab us a ladder.
So with all of this bad news, what could the good news possibly be? Well, I’m glad that you asked.
The Good News
Are you ready for it? Are you ready for the good news? The good news is that though we do not have a ladder, it is raining, we keep digging, and we continue to weaken the walls around us, there is still hope. But like I said, there is nothing we can do on our own to get ourselves out.

This part can be frustrating or if embraced can be life changing, so just bear with me. There is someone who can pull us out of our grave and yes you guessed it, and I’m going to say it… It’s Jesus. You see Jesus has been watching us the whole time, while were at home with our family, while we were riding our bike, and when we start digging. He gives us the choice to not dig at all, but once we start its hard to stop. Jesus is always calling our name, but what we like to do is put our headphones in and listen to something else. The good thing is that Jesus keeps calling our name even if we aren’t listening. He is still there and he wont stop calling for us.
When we recognize the situation we are in, we act as if we are a child in a store separated from our parents, we look around and realize, and then we cry out. When we finally look up into the stinging rain, when we see pieces of the walls falling around us more rapidly, and when we finally cry out for help, Jesus is right there to not only to pull us out right in the knick of time, but he is there to take our place in the grave that we dug to be buried alive for our carelessness, and he does this willingly. Why does he do this? Because he has a love bigger and stronger than we could comprehend.
So a question to leave you with is this, are you ready to admit that there is nothing you can do to pull yourself out of your own grave? And are you willing to call out to call out to the one who so desperately wants to save you?
