Patterned fences and colorful houses.
Potatoes. Lots and lots of potatoes
Lush green rolling countryside.
Horse and wagons.
Muddy roads and mud caked shoes.
Accordian music.
Fruit compote.
Pickled tomatoes.
Floral head scarves.
Gold capped teeth.
Opulant Orthodox churches.
…all things I will always associate with Moldova.
Our ministry is evangelising by day; worshipping with and preaching to the youth and believers in the evening. We’ve painted a fence, visited one orphanage, one school, many believers homes, and even more non-believers homes…
As always there are some incredible followers of Christ in this community.
It’s an odd mix of very conservative practices and traditions but incredibly dedicated and very passionate people.
The first week here was cold and rainy and slightly miserable. We were doing door to door evangelism in the rain and snow! As always, I came into the month thinking…what could possibly be more challenging than last month?? I cannot forsee anything beyond what we’ve already experienced; but God always proves that my understanding cannot even begin to match his greatness. So He decided to give me a lesson in communication this month. I was forced time and again to have difficult conversations with our contacts; constantly answering questions, confirming times, clearing misunderstandings, confronting conflicts. Whoof. Who knew communicating could be so exhausting?!
And during our evangelism God kept showing me passages that were perfect for the people we were speaking with. Little verses that I had recently read would pop into my head at the opportune moment to aid the conversation.
It’s been a challenging and exhausting month to be sure, but our team has grown together so much. We’ve also laughed together this month more than every before…which really makes everything so much better!
I’m hoping to share some more stories from Moldova soon…
