EGYPT!!!!! WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN….
Yes followers, I am in Cairo, Egypt. We will be spending 2 days here before heading 1 ½ hours outside of Cairo to work in a youth camp. Then in Sept we fly to Nairobi, Kenya for a few days. My South Africans will be staying in Nairobi and the Americans will go to work in an orphanage in Uganda!
But first let me tell you about the past few weeks since we left Croatia. We took 2 ferry boats and went down the Adriatic Sea to Corinth, Greece. This is where the apostle Paul lived for 2 years and preached and wrote 2 letters to the Corinthians. It was amazing! I was able to walk the footsteps of Paul and visit a very ancient town in ruins. While sitting on a rock in Corinth I began to read in my Bible and studying I and II Corinthians and Acts 18. The scriptures really became alive to me sitting in the exact place.
After Corinth, we hopped on a train to Athens, Greece and there I stood on the same rock that Paul preached to the Athenians. Here I studied Acts 17 as I looked over by the Acropolis to Athens. What a sight! Please read the blue team blog entitle “Following the Holy Spirit.” The blue team was led to Divine Appointments.
All the teams then raced from Athens to Ephesus, Turkey. You can read the Blue Team blog again for results and adventures and again the divine appointments by God. Well, I must say, if you ever want a gorgeous vacation….GO TO TURKEY! Beautiful beaches, breathtaking sunsets, and courteous people. In Ephesus (a wonder of the world) and studied the book of Ephesians. I was able to write a 7 minute play on Rev. 2:1-7 and we performed it at the Ancient Theatre were Paul preached and many Christians were killed right on that stage. WOW! What an experience to be able to preach the gospel where Christians once died. I was in awe….
In Turkey we also visited and studied Revelations and three of the seven churches. I went to Ephesus, Pergamum and Smyrna. The church in Pergamum is left in ruins and the other part is now a Mosque. We decided to leave the letter at the old church that was written by John through a vision by God in Rev. 2:12.
We spent some time camping for a few days in Kusadsi, Turkey across from the beach. Since our schedule changed and we did not go to Israel, we needed to consider our finances and decided how to get to Cairo. So the blue team along with 2 other World Racers found a route. We took 2 buses (one 7 hours and the other 8 hours) to the southern part of Turkey. We got on an overnight ferry boat and slept on the deck as we headed for the island of Cyprus! Also, this was anther area that the Apostle Paul spent some time. Now for those of you who do not know, the northern part of Cyprus is owned by the Turks and the Southern part is owned by the Greeks. Now they DO NOT get a long at all! In Cyprus we took a mini bus to the border. We met an awesome young Turkish man who brought us to his house for breakfast and to take showers! AHHH…what a blessing! We walked across the border in Cyprus to the Greek side, took a taxi to the airport and bought tickets from Cyprus to Cairo. We spent 30 hours in the airport awaiting our flight.
What an adventure!! We finally arrived last night at 2am. It took us 3 days to complete that journey. It was a great time of sharing Jesus, bonding and reading….God Bless You!
