This is a catch up blog from last month in Haiti. There will be more to come! Here you go 🙂
Pastor drove us to a site this week that he wanted us to pray for. He is hoping to plant a clinic in the middle of a community that is far from any other medical facilities. The village was tiny but the natives had broad smiles.
We pulled up in front of a concrete building, opened up the door to the Taptap and like a can of sardines we unpeeled ourselves, all 19 of us, from the tiny van. Pastor shared his vision with us for the clinic and introduced us to the nurses. Then we spread out and covered the premises with prayer, as each woman felt lead. We touched walls, we sang, we lifted our hands. After a few minutes one of our girls came forward and shared a vision the Lord had given her when she first got to Haiti.
She, Jessica, had been sick pretty much since we stepped foot on Haitian soil. Between fevers, fatigue and the inability to get up from her mat or to even speak, there had been no opportunity to share this vision the Lord had put on her heart a week ago. But today, she woke up and had a voice. So she knew it was time to share the vision.
It was simple:
“God showed me we are supposed to pray for the land. Like… touch the dirt and proclaim the Lordship of Jesus over it. I brought anointing oil and we going to pour it out and dedicate all of Haiti to the Lord.”
Ok, let’s do it.
So we prayed. We knew that if we didn’t cry out the rocks and trees themselves would. It was simple. It was powerful. We declared scripture, broke off ownership of the enemy and told him where he could go. We even sang, “This Land is our land, this land’s not your land…” No joke.
We had learned from our translator who is a Haitian pastor here, that back when Haiti was fighting to be independent from the French, its natives had literally made a contract with Satan. They dedicated the land and country to him and vowed to worship him if he would provide their independence. They even sealed the deal with blood sacrifices that soaked into the earth. A contract signed in blood. There was some serious history here. But this land belongs to Jesus; His Father’s fingerprints are all over the rocks and mountains and His voice carries on the wind. Jesus told us what He wanted done and we followed through, crazy as it must have looked to the Haitian villagers that gathered around to watch all the white women.
Thirty minutes later, I was walking and talking with Pastor and he shared with me that the tiny village we had just been in was the epicenter of the earthquake.
Wait, what…?
The place the Lord lead us to do some prayer “ground breaking” for the new clinic was the exact spot on the Earth that the land broke open two years ago. I was dumbstruck.
It made no sense. Why would God choose a group of 19 American women to combat a whole nation’s history of darkness??? How did we and our feeble prayers and hands compete with a blood contract with the prince of darkness himself? We were not impressive, we were not well versed on spiritual warfare or breaking ancient bondages, we were women and on top of that, we were not even Haitian! But it did not matter. God chose us. We are His. And we have all the light, power, and authority we could ever need to bring His Kingdom to this earth with a greater force than any land splitting earthquake. And we laughed and giggled and sang while we did it too.
The oil and prayers of a small group of women soaked into the broken, thirsty land and it could not compare to a mountain of blood sacrifices. Jesus gets His way. As I write this I am having one of those divine music oments. I have my IPod on what I like to call “Holy Spirit shuffle”, and there is no mistake in the placement of the current song for my ears, and yours too:
“The devil ain’t got no thing on me cause I’m takin’ back takin’ back my authority. Watch out heaven ‘cause here I come. I’ll storm the gates ‘cause we have won.” (Jake Hamilton, Watch Out Heaven)
Now, I want to talk to you. You. Beloved, don’t you know who you are? Do you know the power that is inside of you? The biggest fear that Satan has to choke down like hot bile every day is the idea of the Sons and Daughters of God realizing and operating in the knowledge of who they are, who they were created to be. We need to wake up! We have been chosen! Right now, you are complete, you are whole, already filled with glory and the fullness of God! Not next year when you know the bible better or when you get all that junk out of your life. Not when you change and look more like this person or that person. Now when you are “more holy” after your next fast or however many hours in prayer. Satan is terrified of you now. And the power that created the stars, the heavens, the earth and EVERYTHING ELSE is waiting like a loaded rifle to be shot out of your mouth.
Got darkness in your family that you are tired of? Stuck in a situation that is sucking the life out of you? Sickness, abuse, drugs, depression, shame, fear; whatever it is, you have the authority to claim your territory and tell it to go back to hell. Jesus said that the Kingdom was here, at hand. It still is, and you are the doorway. This is what you were made for.
Step 1. Put your hand on your land
Step 2. Speak
The earth will shake.
