Healing has been a huge part of my life since I can remember. My dad has an incredible anointing, which has allowed me to see handfuls of miracles in my siblings, cousins, family friends and strangers.

Watching God use him to set people free from physical, emotional and spiritual pain has sparked a desire deep in my heart to be used in the same way. I yearn for God to heal His people through me. I’ve been praying and believing in Him to give me the gift of healing since Training Camp in May.

I struggled for some time because I wasn’t feeling the heat in my hands people described they felt when they were anointed, but I continued believing He was going to use me.

Fast forward to Month 1 of the Race. I met William Scott – the wonderful man of God I had the honor of feeding fish and bread. I shared the story of meeting him with my storytelling mentor, Meghan Tschanz and she challenged me.

“What if you would’ve prayed healing over him? I wonder what would’ve happened?” she asked me. At first, I was disappointed in myself. I couldn’t believe I missed an opportunity to pray healing over someone God had clearly put in my path. I thanked Meghan for opening my eyes and assured her I wouldn’t miss another chance to do so.

That evening, I prayed God would put William back in my path. It had been three weeks since the day I met him and hadn’t seen a trace of him since, but there was one more week left in Jeffrey’s Bay. I prayed the same prayer again the next morning and invited the Holy Spirit to lead the day.

It was a sunny off day full of relaxation, catching up on reading U Squad’s blogs and drinking Chai Tea Latte’s at my favorite coffee shop in town. Robbie and Katie celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary the day before so my team planned to treat them to dinner.

Team Wildfire was dispersed between different coffee shops throughout town. Robbie, Katie, Kelsey and Jace were at Cafe’ Kima with the key to the house we were living in, John was with some girls on Team Wimbi and Amber was with me. The two of us wanted to go home and change before dinner so we headed to grab the key from Robbie. At the same time Jace headed to find John and let him in on our plan.

When we got closer to Cafe’ Kima, we saw Jace and Kelsey standing outside talking to someone. The sun was setting so it was difficult to see who it was.

“Is that who I think it is?” Amber asked me. It hit me.

“Willllllliaaaammmmm!” I screamed as I sprinted to the three of them. When I reached them, William was showing Jace and Kelsey the letter I had written him three weeks prior. He had kept it in his pocket ever since.

“I’ve been praying for God to put you back in my path so I can pray healing over you,” I said to him.

“PRAY!” he replied. So I did. I prayed complete and total healing over his hip he had recently had surgery on. It was giving him so much pain he couldn’t even finish walking home. He had approached Jace on his way to meet John and asked for a ride home. The taxi pulled up while I was praying, so we helped him get in and sent him on his way.

That night, God revealed He is going to use me to heal His people. He’s putting them in my path – I just have to keep my eyes wide open.
