Welcome to my World Race blog!
I want to use this page to share what God has recently laid on my heart and called me to do. As of July of 2015, I will set off on The World Race – an 11 month mission trip in which I will travel to 11 counties, spending one month in each, sharing the good news and love of Jesus Christ. I feel that Christ has called me to join Route 4, which will send me to South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua! Ministry will look different in each country as I serve with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages and minister to women and children who have fallen victim to human trafficking all while I share the love of Jesus with everyone I meet along the way.
When I think about going on The World Race, my mind becomes overwhelmed with gratitude for Christ’s plan for me. Never in a million years did I think that a year-and-a-half after graduating college I would be leaving the United States for an entire year to serve as a disciple. But after God broke my heart to pieces during my first mission trip to Kusi, Peru, I’m confident that I belong on the mission field. I know that The World Race is the next step in my walk with Christ and that I must take a leap of faith, trust Him and fulfill my purpose: to know God and to make Him known.
Sometimes, it’s all hard to fathom; that God has chosen me to be one of His disciples – that I could be qualified in His eyes to go out into this world and share the same love He has shown me. But, I must remember that as His child, I am perfect in His eyes and that He has always known that The World Race would be part of my journey. I’ve battled the feelings I’ve had in my heart for years, searching for explanations of why I experienced the heartache, abuse, eating disorder and many turns down the wrong roads that I did – but God showed me this summer. He spoke to me while I was giving my testimony for the first time at a bonfire surrounded with abandoned boys in Kusi – and told me that all of what I’d been through was only preparing my heart for what was to come. My heart had been broken countless amounts of times so that it would be shaped to love in the way that God has called me to – to love the least of these: the brokenhearted, the ashamed, the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lonely, the abandoned, the outcasts, the homeless, the victims.
I am so humbled that I have been chosen to travel around the world and share what Christ has done in my life so that others may know Him and turn to Him for comfort instead of the ways of the world. Fortunately, God hasn’t called me to go on this journey alone. He has called YOU to join me!
The most important way you can join this journey of mine is by praying diligently for me, my World Race team and each of the countries we will be living in. Pray for our safety, our strength, our comfort, our obedience, our hearts and most of all, that we accomplish all that God has in store for us.
The second most important way you can join me is by supporting me financially. In order to complete The World Race, I have to raise $16,266.10 just in mission trip fees. That’s not including the tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, backpack, daypack and all of the other items I need to live for a year away. I have faith that God will provide all of the funds I need by calling the people in my life to join this mission with me. If you feel led to support my Race, with either a one-time donation or a reoccurring monthly donation, you can do so online or by mail.
-
To make an online donation, please click the “Support My Race” tab listed in the column on the left side of my page.
-
To make a donation by mail, please make out a check to Adventures in Missions, include the Fundraising Card at the end of this letter and send both to P.O. Box 742570, Atlanta, GA 30374-2570.
-
If you’ve decided to support me financially and feel led, please consider making a reoccurring monthly donation. With ongoing monthly support, I will be able to continue raising support while I am on the Race. I have monetary deadlines, but for six months after leaving the U.S., I will still be able to raise money to be fully funded.
-
If you would like to provide funding for the material items that I have to purchase, you can make checks out to Living Word Ministries with “Racquel’s World Race” on the note line and mail to 1062 Hwy. 16 S., Stanley, N.C. 28164.

I am also selling t-shirts to raise money and spread the word about my Race! You can purchase one of these by contacting me with the style and size you would like. You can buy it in a T-shirt ($22), V-neck or tank ($24) in sizes from Adult S-XXXL (XXL and XXXL are $2 more per shirt).
“There is no fear in love, because perfect
love expels fear. If we are afraid, it is for
fear of punishment, and this shows that
we have not fully experienced his perfect
love.”
