What if God was not who we thought He was?
What if how we think of Him,
how we worship Him,
how we describe Him and our best thoughts of who He is so much less than who He actually is?
What if we started describing God by what He is not, rather than who He is?
How often do you gather up the best images of yourself or the best human attributes you can think of, magnify them to 'perfection' and use those 'qualities' to describe God? It doesn't even fall close.
God is so wholly different than humans, but yet He humbles Himself daily to be able to connect with us, because He loves us, misses us and longs for a conversation with us.
Recently I've taken to just sitting in my room and talking out loud to Jesus.
It felt really weird at first, but as I did it, the spirit put words in my heart, mouth and mind that were not from me.
It was like having a conversation with a best friend who knows my future.
I found myself laughing, listening, thinking or sitting in silence….and then rambling again about my problems which He lovingly takes and shows me how someday He'll use them for His glory.
He doesn't judge anything I say.
Sometimes, I know He is just listening to me…sending His spirit to be present and comfort.
He doesn't instruct me with a list of steps or rules to remember.
Just listens. Just comforts. The spirit lifts up the things I can't explain and brings Love back to my heart. He is so good that way.
Sometimes when it feels like He isn't doing anything in your situation, it's because the spirit is slowly working in your heart. I hold on to four words from James1:4,
"So let it grow."
"….for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing."
I know I can only reach perfection (not necessarily in me, but I can reach out to it daily) by letting it grow.
The work the spirit does in our hearts often feels dry, tedious, boring and hard. But let it grow.
Let the hard times be just as important as the good ones and just talk to Him the whole time.
But I digress.
I wanted to start off this blog with praising Jesus for success in fundraising. I reached my first goal of $3,500! In fact, I literally just checked my balance and I'm over $4,000.
