Mighty Men

What does it mean to be a mighty man to me today?

Be someone who is the best at what he does, someone who is looked to for strength, someone who others measure themselves by, a leader.

Maybe I'm not going to kill 800 men with a spear or stand my ground against an entire philistine army fighting until my hand is frozen to my sword. (2 Samuel 23:8-10)  But I can be a mighty man in my community. I can stand up for the oppressed, I can feed the poor, I can fight the battles in my city that need to be fought. I can have dreams that are bigger than me. I can show up ready to do God's work and see how he shows up in me. I can be a man of honor who is respected in my community. (Proverbs 31:23) I can pour into the generation below me. I can change myself, my family, my community, my city, my state, my nation, my world! I am part of a global community. Change starts with me.

I want to be a "Mighty Man"… On second thought, I AM A MIGHTY MAN. I am not defined by my mistakes, my failures, my shortcomings, I am not the lies that the enemy whispers. I am who HE says I am, I am a Mighty Man, I have the ability to change the world, HE is strong in me, HE is working all things together for my good, I am a success, I have a purpose! Why would I listen to the enemy's whispers and ignore the declarations that the Lord of lords is proclaiming over me?

I have 3 more months on The World Race. I have 3 more months to look past bad decisions, failures, and mistakes. I have a new chance to claim who I am in Christ and bring heaven to earth. And it doesn't stop there! I have who knows how many years to claim His promises, my future is undetermined, I get to choose the story I live, I get to choose to be a Mighty Man.
