Healing on the Streets of Kachibora
(Me, Elizabeth & Mariam)
While in Kachibora, our team has been able to engage in door to door evangelism. I really have been enjoying evangelism and have been very thankful for the gift of discernment from the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, help from the voice of God, I would not be able to communicate with any of the people here in the way that the Lord would have me to…
One day last week while going to homes evangelizing,a woman started following and coming closer to me. I could help but hear the Lord say, “Megan, I have something special for you”. My heart cried out and as my team went ahead, I was sensitive to the spirit’s calling.
So the woman come up to me and she did not look well. She was carrying a young baby in her arms as well. She started to talk to me but did not seem to get many words out. I asked her what her name was in Swahili, “Una itwa Nane?” and she replied, “Elizabeth” and then proceeded to tell me her baby’s name was Mariam. Elizabeth told me she was sick and that she had Malaria. You could see the weariness, and brokeness within her. I asked her if she wanted me to pray for her. After asking her if she was a believer in Jesus, I was able to pray healing over her life and sickness. I prayed for God to bring his healing over her and to free her from Malaria.
I have always struggled with understanding how God heals, and whether or not it could be immediate. I had been told that the Lord heals in other countries more than the United States where western culture has relied upon medicines to cure illness. My faith is enough to believe that God is able to heal, but I have not witnessed it like I did that day. After I opened my eyes I saw a twinkle in Elizabeth’s eye. I saw new life beginning. I told her that I would continue to pray for her each day until she was better. A few days later while walking from another house on the street, Elizabeth approached me again. This time she was smiling. She had chased me down again to pray for healing over her baby Mariam. She explained that her daughter had the flu and was running a fever. I asked her how she was feeling and she said much better! The Lord really used Elizabeth to confirm within me that Jesus, who lives in me, could initate healing and breathe new life into someone. Knowing that she was better and that she was seeking more healing prayers for her son, helped me to understand that healing really did take place. Medicine was not a necessity. The healing power of our Lord was the remedy. Our God is able… Priase the Lord for new life!
