Week One of ministry in Nepal has been very different from India. So far is has been a refreshing grab bag of ministries. It is also “all squad month” so all fifty some of us are together and we get to intertwine our abilities and also teach each other the lessons we learned at out different Month One ministries.
Our ministries so far in only the first week have been a trip into the hills overlooking the entire Kathmandu Valley, a visit into one of the local slums, and an entire day with the children’s program.
The mountain trip was amazing. We were able to connect to the Lord in a place where we could fully see his awesome work, from the top of an mountian! From there we worshipped and had a time of prayer that reached out over the entire valley! How power is our Lord, to bring us to this place where we can pray over thousands of souls, both lost and found, all at once.
Our visit to the slums was good for me. It reminded me of our village ministry from last month. I also feel a peaceful feeling of being at home when I am in these slums and villages. It is as if my soul is drawn towards those “low” places because I see the Lord’s ability to move in them. The slum we visited even had a new church building where the believers could worship and the chuldren could learn. We were able to pray over the people, children, and also the new church, that it’s new believers would grow to such a number that the walls there would no longer be able to hold them within.
The children’s ministry here is a soccer and food ministry. As a full squad we were able to split up and either prepare the food, meet and pick up the children, or go and set up for the games. Once everyone was at the field, we were able to show love to the children through playing soccer with them. Most of them were about five yeard old and still much better than us twenty-somethings. After a few hours of playing, and appetites that were slowly building, the food showed up. We all circled up and served one another and the children. While eating we were able to spread the Good Word of the Gospel and a short skit for the children. It was an awesome day for the Lord.
We are so happy to be where we are. I feel such a calling to this country in only the short week I have been here. Please continue to pray for my squad, my team, and me. Please donate to this blog and also share share share. Always be in prayer for us all as we always in pray for you.
God bless
