2012. Today marks the start of a brand new year. I am filled with so much excitement and anticipation for what this year has in store…
This is going to be a huge year in my life. In just a few short months I will be a graduate of LaGrange College! If I survive that is…. haha and in July I plan on leaving for the World Race to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to 11 different countries. I absolutely cannot wait to see what God has in store!
Looking back on this year, I am overwhelmed by how the Lord has prepared me for this journey. Last spring break in 2011, our BCM went on a mission trip to New Orleans and it was amazing. It was there that I felt truly in my element. On that trip I realized how much I love to serve people. I have been on many mission trips, but it was on this trip specifically that the desire to become a missionary was really ignited in my heart. So as I reflected on this past year, I was reading in my journal when I wrote all about the trip and how the Lord moved. I wrote in my journal that I felt the Lord calling me to be a missionary when I graduate college. That was back in April 2011, but I never thought anything more of it. The thought just kind of came and went.
Then I was able to serve another amazing summer at WinShape Camp for Girls. Throughout the summer, I wrote multiple journal entries about wanting to be a missionary someday. I always thought it was just a random though or a distant dream, but now I realize it is the Lord’s calling.
Throughout these past few years, I feel as though God has been preparing me for this journey. As I look back and reminisce, it is so evident and clear how God has been radically moving in my life to prepare me to further His kingdom on the World Race. It has been really amazing to see how He has moved in my life in this past year.
And this year in July 2012, I will be leaving for the World Race!! Headed to impact the world to show people the love of God and teach them about Jesus Christ. As I write this I am overwhelmed with excitement and pure joy for what is to come. I absolutely cannot wait to be a missionary and embark on this incredible journey.
