This should come as no surprise, but I'm so pumped for the race!! If you know me then you know that I'm not one who enjoys a schedule, or even really knowing what tomorrow looks like. Sure there are certain routines that I love like a cup of coffee in the morning with the good book and a bagel, but for the most part I'm not a huge fan of having my days planned. Being tied down to a clock having somewhere you have to be when the big hand hits the 6 makes me want to cringe.

I've spent so much of my life running from one thing to the next because I was afraid I would be late, and in the process I missed so many great opportunities. Why shouldn't I be late if I'm having a great conversation? Since when did a schedule become more important than a person? Carpe Diem, seize the day!! or rush through it and watch the whole thing slip right through your fingers. It's your choice really, but as for me, I'm ready to join the world where spontaneous friendships are more important than monotonous duties?

Look at Jesus. He more or less just wandered around for a while, having conversations with people from all walks of life. The most respectable, and the most "detestable" and I don't recall reading anything saying that Jesus left because he was due to be at the hardware store by high noon and couldn't afford to be late. Granted those were different times, but still Jesus saw the importance of grabbing those golden opportunities, and unique circumstances each day offers and living them. Shouldn't we?

All this to say, I just want to follow the Spirit and I don't think it's His voice that says "drive by this person because if you don't you'll be late and that's not respectable." I see His voice saying things like "love that broken man you just drove by, stop and buy him breakfast, and maybe lunch if you talk that long, ohh and don't worry, I have you exactly where I want you! Don't deny my timing, it's perfect remember?"
Go seize your day for Christ! I promise it'll be a good thing!

Much love,
Chris Stepp

Side note: future and current employers this isn't me making an excuse to be late, I'll still be on time… Unless I can't be 🙂

Side note 2: If anyone wants to have one of those spontaneous conversations with me give me a call or come see me, or email me, text me, whatever works. I like chatting 317-696-8334 🙂 I especially want to talk to you if you need some encouragement or a little truth in your life. fair warning though I'm not always holding my phone so if I don't answer I'll call ya back! and come July I wont have my phone cause I'll be departing for Central America which is the first stop of my journey.
