I imagine it started months or years back as a whisper from God that formed a cloud of ideas, then some rumors… until it finally became faith in action met by His presence and favor!
And of course by ‘it’ … I mean WORLD RACE KOREA!!
This wild and exciting development has been in the works for a while now and has finally reached an officially public stage! The plan is to launch the pioneer squad in September– hopefully a squad of South Koreans, other Asians, Americans, and basically any English-speaking person who is interested! It will be a multicultural squad with a unique and powerful unity in the Spirit through Kingdom culture. It will be a beautiful picture of the body of Christ in all its diverse parts, breaking barriers and chains shaped by culture, upbringing, and past to press onward for freedom… to learn love in community and to share that love beyond borders.
I strongly believe in the potential of this new Race. Because Adventures and the World Race are global, not American. More importantly, the Kingdom is global and our generation is global. And the implications of that are far deeper than a potential Instagram photo boasting new levels of outward diversity.
While all of this sounds wonderful in theory, it’s also frighteningly large in its scope and abyss of unknowns. Yet it seems that the Lord has prepared, pruned, and positioned me for such a time as this.
Currently, my mission has two major components:
<<worship/prayer>>
God gave me the phrase “front lines” at the very beginning of my CGA year last September. I had no idea what it meant and I even almost wrote it off because it made no sense. But I was too curious, in spite of doubt, to not file it away in my mind just in case something came of it. Well, that, paired with the very first prophetic word I received on being “an intercessor for cities and nations,” is becoming reality now! I feel called to take part in establishing a foundation of extended worship and prayer for WR Korea as well as Adventures as a whole and the nations everywhere (much like my upcoming Guatemala trip).
In retrospect, it makes sense to me why I never fell in love with one specific country or ministry on the Race. I am, in a sense, called to all of them (at least for now)! The power of worship and prayer to displace darkness with His light and hope, to fight in spiritual warfare, to uplift and align us with Abba’s heart is simply beautiful. I’m convinced that this is the place from which all missions, large or small, should be done. Burning out results from lack of this. Burning up for more of Jesus results from abundance of this.

Culture, especially Asian culture, was always a point of curiosity for me as I grappled with growing up as a U.S.-born Korean with immigrant parents. It wasn’t until the Race, though, that I had to face it in a fresh way as somewhat of a cultural foreigner within my squad but also as a true foreigner all over the world. I realized I appreciate cultures and languages and people so much, and I seek to understand them in a way that not everyone necessarily does. I’ve also recognized that each culture has its Kingdom gems and its sinful flaws, just as each human being does. So I would love to see us humbly and willingly learn about each other’s cultures, drawing out the God-given awesomeness and DNA of each and refining or tempering the parts that have been shaped by the ungodly world. I would love to discover and cultivate true Kingdom culture in purest form. A culture unified in Spirit that abides by the Word and appreciates the strengths/weaknesses of each body part but appropriately sees beyond them to Jesus the purifier. I want to see the global body sift through our junk together to solidify identity as sons and daughters, but with a holistic understanding of each other. (If you want to embrace and redeem your past, body type, personality, gender, etc… through Kingdom lens, why should your cultural context be exempt from the list?)
So here I am. After much consideration, prayer, and waiting on the Lord’s timing, I have decided to embark on a journey to Korea in May! This would be my internship for my last portion of the CGA year (May-August). Thus far, I feel led to be in Korea in May, but beyond that I’m waiting to see where the Lord leads- whether to remain in Korea for the rest of the summer or perhaps to hop around Asia (Thailand/Cambodia/Philippines/Malaysia would be options). For the latter I might join some of my fellow CGA interns doing a Southeast Asia trip to lay some spiritual groundwork through worship, intercession, and living out the Father’s heart for those places where we have Adventures long-term missions bases starting up. Either way, it looks like I’ll be in Asia this summer, which is very exciting!
This also means I’ll need your continued support through prayer and funds!
I am pleased to say I already have some funds in my account, thanks to all of you awesome supporters, to start my summer experience off! Thank you, Jesus!! Now I’m still looking to raise about $5000, so if you want to support:
me as a person, me as a missionary in general, World Race Korea, or any of this…
please consider joining me and God on this amazing journey! It has been an exhilarating ride so far, and I can hardly believe that it just keeps getting better!! But such is life with Jesus. 🙂
What can you do?

I’m more confident than ever that He’ll provide all that I need for wherever He has me. It has been so fun to watch Him provide in the big and little things for me; I love glorifying Him through it all! So thank you for being a part of my adventures with Jesus and I invite you to jump on board if you haven’t already! He promises it’ll be exceedingly more than I ask or imagine 😉
