11 choices, 11 fights, and 11 discoveries that are life-giving. Just some essentials that I’ve been learning on the Race and hope to continue engaging in through/beyond the Race.

CHOOSE. Life involves lots of intentionality.
Choose to engage with teammates, housemates, staff, students, locals.
Choose to see things in a positive light. Optimism is a muscle I’m exercising.
Choose to get over myself.
Choose to steward my money well.
Choose to view myself and others through God’s eyes.
Choose to be contagious with my joy, even when nothing seems to be going right.
Choose life over death, not right over wrong.
Choose to be used for good.
Choose to let Him transform me.
Choose to see each day and each person as a blessing.
Choose His plan over mine.

FIGHT. It’s never easy, but the not-so-easy parts are necessary and fulfilling.
Fight for my time with God. It’s not always going to be nicely built into my daily schedule, if there even is a schedule.
Fight for my teammates. Encourage them and speak the same truths to them again and again, because it’s meaningful every time.
Fight for my family and friends back home. Being fully present where I am doesn’t mean I can neglect those that have shaped me and partnered with me thus far.
Fight for justice. I’m not fighting against people, but against the enemy’s attacks to steal, kill, and destroy.
Fight for one-on-one time with those around me, for intentional conversations that glorify Him.
Fight against lethargy, materialism, apathy, fear.
Fight for the brokenhearted, so that they would allow Jesus to heal and redeem them.
Fight against fleshly desires and selfish ambition.
Fight physical hunger as I press into spiritual hunger.
Fight the lies that Satan feeds me, both old ones he builds on and new ones.
Fight with grace, truth, passion, and most importantly with love.

DISCOVER. What’s a journey if you don’t find cool things?!
Discover who I am as a child, a friend, and a lover of God.
Discover who I am as a woman in Christ.
Discover how to love myself.
Discover and rediscover truths that God speaks to me- not just to anyone, but specifically to me.
Discover how to date Jesus, how to let Him romance me.
Discover how to partner with the Lord in the work He’s doing in each individual I come across.
Discover new ways to pray, worship, and talk to Jesus.
Discover the stories and hearts of those around me.
Discover His beauty.
Discover truth.
Discover eternal freedom.
