So over the past week, I have been making phone calls to tell friends and family more about the trip and also tell them some ways God has been moving in my life. I have told them of how God was so persistent in telling me this was His next step for my life. I wrote about it in my first blog. Yeah, that story is pretty cool, but God had to knock me over the head with the same Scripture about 3 times before I decided to listen. I am a little hard headed to say the least. (Oh, how my mom loves this about me.
)
Anyways, after I committed to going on the World Race, God started showing up in ways I had never noticed before. Many of y’all probably read about the healing that took place before training camp, so I want to tell y’all another cool story that happened during this whole process.
On my way to Branson, MO to hang with my grandparents for July 4th, I got a facebook message from my squad mate, Micah. She told me she had gone to Ole Miss as well. We ended up with like 40 mutual friends, one being her college roommate Leslie. I then told her, I was surprised we had never met before because I lived with Lydia (who was Leslie’s best friend). She wrote back that it gets crazier, she lived with Lydia and Leslie her junior year. She asked me what location I lived with Lydia, and it ended up we had lived in the same house. Wow, that is crazy enough, but as we kept talking we realized we lived in the SAME EXACT BEDROOM TOO! Wowsers, no way to explaining that, but God.

(Micah is the one with the bookbag on behind Ed, the guy in the yellow shirt. Good luck finding her… I don’t have any other pics of us together.)
For me, knowing Micah was on the squad brought me comfort. Comfort that someone would understand my college experience; comfort that I wouldn’t be judged on my past; just comfort all around.
So I am about to add one more random God thing to this story. Oh how I love Him and how He works.

On my way to training camp with 3 squad mates, Jen, Josh, and Christopher, our car broke down. Needless to say, we were about 4 or 5 hours late to training camp. It had been pouring rain and it was pitch black, so when one of the squad leaders told us to go set up our tents, I kind of laughed at her and thought, ARE YOU CRAZY, LADY? I went down to where everyone’s tents were and I started yelling loudly “Can I please spend the night with someone? I don’t want to set up my tent.” I heard a voice from afar saying “yeah, come stay with me. I am the tent with the light on. Follow the light.” Ha, so when I get to the tent with the light and I said “hello, I am your bunk partner.” You can only guess whose head popped out of the tent. It was Micah! Of coarse it was!
God knew it had been a long day of tests for our car, so all I needed was comfort at that time. As we talked more, I realized how much she reminded me of a good friend of mine, Melanie. It felt so great just having the feeling of someone I knew by my side through this whole thing. (Although, she obviously wasn’t Mel, the familiarity brought me comfort.)
That night got turned from a frustration (due to the car breaking down and all the squad mates already having made friends) to a night of laughter and fun.
I am so thankful God proved Himself to me again that night, and I am so thankful Micah opened up her tiny tent for me to sleep in. It made training camp that much more enjoyable.
Alright, that’s the end of the story, have a great week! Love y’all!
Liz
