I asked a friend if she would write an honest "about me" that I could put on this page.  Some of you may have read the previous "about me" post which I deleted, because I wrote it and it was awkward.  Anyways here is what Whit (one of my closest pals) had to say:

So you're curious about who this Liz girl is. Well, my name is Whitney Peterson, and I have the extreme privilege of having Liz as one of my closest friends and will therefore attempt to describe the type of person she is.

I should go ahead and state the obvious-that it's impossible to convey with words the type of person Liz is. I figure 2 types of people are reading this: 1) Those that know Liz in which case you've already experienced what I'm about to say about her, and 2) Those that are about to embark on this journey with Liz. To those that are about to know her, let me just say count yourself lucky to get to spend a year serving the Lord with Liz across the globe.

Let me start by saying I'm being completely honest in everything I say. It's not fluff, or exaggerations, it's my perception of Liz based on the extended amount of time I've spent with her. Liz is a walking contradiction, in the best possible way. She's truly one of a kind, and yet adapts flawlessly into any situation she's presented with. Liz is a self-proclaimed social awkward instigator, and yet the person that makes the new person feel comfortable. She's the person that is oddly unique, and yet a sorority girl from Ole Miss. She is quiet and reserved at first, and yet one of the most hilariously random people you'll ever meet once you get to know her. Her uncanny ability to create nicknames and flawlessly create bonds and memories with those around her is intoxicating. I think one of the reasons she can so beautifully hold so many opposite qualities is because of how comfortable she is being exactly the woman that God has made her to be. Liz is the type of person that is up for an adventure at any turn. When asked to drive 8 hours to the beach at 4am with no place to stay and no money for 2 days, Liz immediately says yes. She's the person that despite the fact that she barely knew me, drove to go hang-gliding with me for my birthday not once, but twice! I could use all the words like kindgenerousselfless to describe Liz, but she's so much more than that. Liz is the type of person that makes you feel so valued that she's willing to pull weeds with you in order to just spend time with you (this isn't a hypothetical…she literally spent 3 hours pulling weeds at my house this week so we could hang out). She encourages me to live a better life when it comes to my physical health and my spiritual health-realizing how intertwined the two really are.

One can't speak about LIz without talking about her intense crave for a life centered around the gospel of Christ. In a world where it's so easy to be complacent in the comfort of our lives, Liz continues to strive for something greater! She continually pours into the word of God and is trying to better align her life with that of a true disciple. The beautiful thing about her is that she inspires and encourages others to do the same in such an honest way. She's one of those rare people in life that is so completely honest that you'll never doubt the words coming out of her mouth. For these reasons and so many more that cannot be translated into words, I am extremely privileged to have Liz in my life.

I love you Localtree and while I'll miss you like crazy over the next year, I'm so excited to get to partner with you through The World Race and be a part of what God is going to do through you across the world!!

Love- Peterson
