We were given papers folded in half with our new teams written on the inside and told to read them by ourselves and process the changes. As I read a list of completely new team members I was taken aback, completely shocked. Coming from our debrief session, we seemed to be one of the healthier teams and I was just starting to open up. Then to find out that my teammates had completely changed caught me off guard. The tears didn’t form until I started hugging the necks of my former teammates. I had been challenged by them to be more vulnerable and voice my needs and expectations of others in order to be truly happy, with whomever my teammates would be. Prior to this revelation, I had only been living contently and thought that my needs weren’t that important. Those feelings of content lead to a mediocre life and I realized once I would be willing to step out and be open it would immensely improve.

It had taken me four months to get to a point of vulnerability and decided that I would not waste time with my new team and apply the fresh lessons of being open and honest about what I need. The first meal as a team we discussed our visions, what we wanted to grow in, how others could challenge and love us and ideal ministries. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, I suddenly felt a sense of peace coming over me about the changes. That afternoon we chose to go to the monkey temple, where we climbed about 300 stairs to the top. The view of Kathmandu was spectacular and feeding the monkeys provided entertainment for all, the monkeys, us and spectators. I continuously felt a sense of peace about the bright future ahead. Before we left we were determined to come up with a team name our ideas revolved around the idea of energy and how we are ready and willing to take what we’ve learned and continue to progress loving each other and to God’s love. Thus Team Momentum was formed and ready for service.

I have been blown away by the abundance of love, joy and authenticity that we are living in,- myself included. I decided that I would truly try to apply the life lessons and be willing to be loved. In order for this to happen I have to be willing to take action, share and ask for accountability. With an open heart and willing attitude I hope to continuously grow closer to Christ, the most important reason behind living in fellowship with other believers.
