While in college, I worked as a student courier delivering and picking up tests for disability services. To be more efficient with our time we would ride a bicycle, carrying a satchel-style bag. A common trail was going down a ramp to avoid traveling on one the busiest streets near campus. I loved flying down the hill full speed and using the momentum to be able to ascend the other side easier. As I was flying down the hill, one the straps from the bag got stuck in the spokes of the back wheel bringing the bicycle to halt, catapulting me over the handle and on to the ground. Besides a few cuts, I was perfectly fine and kept on traveling.

Ministry this month is pretty simple. Visiting a new village every night, praying for people in the comfort of their own homes, hosting a service and praying for those who attended after the service. Requests range from casting out demons (Blog: Actions speak louder than words.) and healing physical pain to simple prayers of blessings. Along the way there have been hiccups, such as lack of energy, time constraints, and feeling spiritually drained.

One night, I had two messages ready and was prepared to share. As we were walking around the village I didn’t have a peace about speaking and felt as if it wasn’t right for me to speak, which was out of the ordinary. Although I am not the best at public speaking I still enjoy it and view it as a time for God to shine through me and show me ways to grow. When it came to service I tried to think of any testimony or message that I could share but nothing came to mind. I fought it for a while but then realized that there was nothing I could do. It wasn’t my time to share and I just had to accept it.

After the service, a woman approached me and asked me to pray for her. She had injured herself from falling off a bike, something that I can relate to very well. God clearly placed this woman there to help remind me that although we may fall we just have to get back up and have faith that God will protect, comfort and encourage us to continue serving and riding in complete faith.

The Lord will deliver them to you, and you must do to them all that I have commanded you. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
