• So this is Africa: fitting 22 individuals in a 2 person truck; 3 people in the cab of the truck, one straddling the gear shift; and 20, yes, 20 individuals in the bed of the truck; as we rumbled the pothole-laden, rock-bedded roads for 30 minutes and then walked a mile and a half to Mbarara’s Prayer Mountain.

I was hot, I was sweating, I was nauseous, and I collapsed and sat in awe of this beauty. We broke out as individuals and I took the time to rest in His healing presence. I listened to words of worship and praise, as I read a passage, God directed me to.

    I Peter 1:6-9

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.  These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

This scripture I found when I felt led to share a message of hope with the women of Kakamega, Kenya, and yet I found it again on Prayer Mountain in Mbarara, Uganda. However, it now speaks to me, Laura. It is a message of faith, faith comes from the trials that lay on our path of life. There is purpose in every trial, because it builds our faith, making it even stronger. Our faith is of “greater worth than even gold,” PRICELESS, basically! It is through FAITH, we are saved from our wretchedness.

It is on this mountain, 3 World Race teams met, met as one, and we spent time with God alone and as a group and we spent time exploring and seeking God’s Word. We also took time to pray for every individual present as well as the journey that lies ahead in Rwanda and the following 8 countries. Words were given. Words that blessed each individual. Words I received: HEALTH; BOLDNESS; COURAGE; IMPACT. My prayer this next month and beyond is that I would step out of my comfort zone. I ask for more courage. I pray that I could let go, be free in my worship of the Lord and have NO FEAR!
