Jambo! (Hello in Swahili)

We are in Kakamega, Kenya and have been go and go since we got here after a 9 hour bus ride on Tuesday. This is our first day to have internet and it's been a little rough. Even in our "free" time we are not completely free.

Our first day was spent traveling in town and then to Kakamega National Forest Reserve, where we saw many butterflies and baboons and a whole lot of beauty. Got to ride a piki piki (motorcycle), three times.

Our second day was spent trapsing through the mud, some up to our knees, while the girls were wearing skirts or dresses. Oh what a trek, but at the end was our great reward, where we met many smiling faces of Mukulusu that overwhelmed our hearts with their kindness.  The children gave us a 30 minute concert where they sang with so much heart and soul and even drew us into their group as we danced with them for a good 15 minutes. I was also blessed to hold a precious little one who fell asleep in my arms during the youth's message.

For those of you who were wondering and praying that my nursing skills might be utilized, our third day was spent in Mukulusu treating patients with Jiggers. Not my specility, but nursing nonetheless where we worked with public health workers.

God is working in each of us. Next week, we leave for a 5 day crusade and I have no idea what’s in store. I don’t even know at this point, when I will have internet again.
