This is it! I’m Leaving! Finally! It’s here!!
So my entire life since February 10 has been building up to this… LAUNCH! And I am super excited! Well I guess I’m not so much excited for launch, but for finally getting to Romania (which we leave Sunday night for)! My feelings as my momma bear, Lorri (my second mom) and Cody (my eldest brother) were saying their last good byes was more of excitement rather than sadness! Although to be honest the days leading up to that moment I was most defiantly second guessing my decision to do this. As a child I did not care much for summer camp and all I kept thinking was “Lacey you just signed yourself up for a YEAR long summer camp”! But I’m here, I’m happy and ready to do Gods work across the world!
Anyway you are probably wondering why the title to my blog is “unshaven”, well I will tell you! So as most of you know, my oldest brother, Cody, went on the world race in 2011. And from pictures you have hopefully seen the awesome beard he grew! Well…….. I’d love to do the same, but obviously I am unable! Ha! So I have decided to not shave my legs for the 11 months (well I’m hoping I’ll be able to do it!). So I decided to do this a little bit for me and a little bit for you guys reading my blog. The reasons I am doing this for me is because this could be a struggle, I’m used to having clean-shaven legs. It’s always been for the fact that “It’s not socially acceptable for girls to have hairy legs, boys won’t like you if you have hairy legs, and it’s not attractive”!! Well this trip isn’t about boys or what society expects of me, this trip is about God and me. It’s about finding myself in him, letting him become my Father and my rock to lean on. Needless to say, I don’t think God cares about whether my legs are hairy or not! Now the other reason I’m doing this is for all my readers and supporters, I’ll be writing once a month about how my hairy legs are doing and I’m hoping it will be a fun blog to read, something constant that you can possibly look forward to every month?? Ha
So next time y’all hear from me all be in ROMANIA!!! Ekk can’t wait! Also please pray that our flights and everything goes good 🙂
