While here in Pattaya, Thailand this month we have been pouring the majority of our time into two main ministries. Mercy Center is one of these. This beautiful ministry reaches out to children who are at risk of being directly abused or neglected. Their vision is to “Reach the city’s most destitute, and in particular, the children.”

Though the Mercy home can hold up to fifty children, there are currently twenty-three between the ages of 14 months and 12 years. Since coming here, every morning I am immediately consumed by joy because I encounter God’s presence so strongly. Maybe it’s sensing Fred and Diane Doell’s (founders) deep grandparent type love, or seeing one of the Thai teachers doing devo’s with the kids before bedtime, maybe it’s experiencing the obedient hearts of Bill and Barb Jentz (international house parents) who have left everything and everyone they’ve ever known to fulfill the dream God has for them, or maybe it’s seeing these precious babes bow their entire bodies and heads to the ground as they pray their hearts out for their family, city, and country. His love and peace reign over these children and it not
only radiates from their little faces, but overflows into the lives of all who step foot here.
God’s presence permeates this place because He’s in it all.

I’ve been touched deeply from serving here and reminded about true greatness from God’s perspective…
“At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, ‘Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ He called a little child, whom he placed among them. And he said: ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes a humble place-becoming like this child-is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.”    Matthew 18: 1-5
