“I can NOT live without Wifi.”
I heard this said on the bus today as I was headed home from school. I was listening to their conversation about video games and TV, and I realized that my point of view on life is so fundamentally different from this person. I understand what it’s like to not have Wifi and hate it, but that’s not what my life revolves around, and I am so pleased with that.
I want to live a life set apart. I want to live a life that is not focused on the next wifi hot-spot, fast food restaurant, or coffee boost for the day. I long to live a life that is focused on Jesus and the days’ activities of loving and serving others. I long to live in a place where individuals don’t care about worldly objects and don’t fret about not having the next iPhone or when the next Super Hero movie comes out.
I continuously observe others, listen to the conversations around me, and I wonder what it’s going to be like to truly live that alternate lifestyle— to not have multiple outfit options every day, to take showers sparingly (more often with baby wipes than not), to have two pairs of shoes to choose from, and to not have a mirror in every room to check to make sure I look satisfactory.
The next season of my life (that’s coming up with an exponential speed) is going to be full of sacrifice and minimal living, trusting my teammates to tell me the truth about food stuck in my teeth, and living with a total of 7 shirts for 9 months.
It may sound crazy, but honestly- this is what I’ve been longing for.
So often do I hear others’ plans for their futures, goals, and upcoming classes or promotions, and I inwardly wince. No way would I ever choose someone else’s reality over mine. And, I assume, not many people would actually choose to go to foreign countries and live out of a backpack for 9 months straight. We all have different desires and dreams!
Where I am and what I’m about to do is absolutely a dream come true, and I couldn’t be happier.
Something that God has placed on my heart recently is that He calls different people to different tasks- some are called to go unto the nations, and some are called to send them. Even when someone is unable to physically make the trip to the field, they can still further the kingdom through those who can. It’s such a comfort for me to know that not only has he called me, but he has called upon others to send me! I am in full faith that He is stirring hearts, and moving my community to support me and fund my way.
When you partner with me in my mission unto the nations, you’re also furthering the Kingdom with your support! Your part in this trip is just as significant as mine!!! There would be no way for me to physically love orphans across seas, if I couldn’t get there with your help!
Here’s to more waiting on Jesus, and proclaiming and believing in Victory over finances! 🙂
