Hi. Team Trinity has arrived!! We are 4 hours away from where we were this morning (no idea what this town is called..). We had the ride of a lifetime. I can honestly say that this was the WORST bus ride of my life. I know I keep saying that…but the rides continue to get worse. I am really nervous to see the transportation in other countries.
The ride started out okay. I was in the back with Chad and we had the whole row to ourselves. We were quite comfortable. Then, we stopped and a bunch of people got on. We no longer had ANY room. I could not even sit straight forward, the rows were so close together. I was looking out the window when I noticed we were driving on a dirt road with a cliff the size of the Grand Canyon next to us and there was NO guard rail. I calmly (yeah right) said CHAD…YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THIS!!! It was straight down.
So, we kept on driving until our bus broke down. The driver got the engine to start, but it did not seem like a permanent fix to me! We continued down the windy road (the road in Hesperia is nothing compared to this one) with no guard rail for quite a while when the guy who had been sleeping on my shoulder the whole ride PUKED!! Now, if you know me, you know that this is the WORST thing that could possibly happen to me. I opened my window and stuck my head out. I did not care that my nose was frost bit, I couldn’t do anything else. It was awful. Finally, they stopped the bus and everyone got out. My team had to clean me up. My shoes and pant leg will never be the same. EWWW!!! They “cleaned” the area, but I was not comfortable with sitting in the same seat. Thank goodness I have CHAD!! He switched with me and off we went.
We arrived in our little town and searched for hotels. We were only here for 5 minutes and were the talk of the town. I love the people here. They try so hard to speak the little English they know. We found a hotel with hot water and heat and are pretty much settled in. We already have dinner plans with a man that speaks a fair amount of English. I know we are going to enjoy our time here.
Please pray for this area…that the people who live here will be accepting of us “foreigners” and accepting of what we have to say! Love to you all!!
