Hello from lovely Palenque, Mexico. At the moment we are having our van worked on. Our brakes are shot!!! The mountains are brutal to an old vehicle like El Savador! As soon as they are finished we are going to the Mayan Ruins. We have been doing the tourisy missionary thing the past few days. We have definitely seen some amazing sights and met a ton of wonderful people. We went to Agua Azul which is similar to Niagra Falls on Wednesday. The water was so loud and beautiful. It is supposed to be aquamarine blue, but it rained…so it was brown. Still really beautiful. We hiked around the area for a few hours. The boys tried out a rope swing while the girls sat back and made fun of them..he he. That night, we had church in our pueblo..Jerusulen. I sat in the back with all the children. I am finding that I can communicate perfectly with the kids…just hug them and give them candy and you are friends for life. I definitely feel right at home with all the kids befriending me. Yesterday, Thursday, we went horsebackriding. Now I know that everytime I go horsebackriding I say that I will never do it again, but I went yesterday. I will never go again. It was a really neat way to see the sights…it looked like the mountain scene in The Sound of Music. If it wasn´t for the horses, I wouldn´t have seen the beauty. BUT, I will never go again. We were in a town where we TEAM TRINITY were the first Americans they had ever seen. You should have seen the stares we were getting. I can still feel them staring at me. I guess I would stare at us too. We were hooting and hollering at the beauty and riding in the back of a pick up truck. It is also funny because we are the PALEST people ever. I am sure just being white is a shock to them…but we are REALLY white!! We went to another pueblo for church last night. There were so many chickens, pigs, and cows running around the property. It brought new meaning to the phrase…watch your step. Once again, I was in the back of the church with the kids. During the invitation, I ended up holding two babies at once. That, my friends, takes talent!! Last night, after church, we all stood outside and looked at the stars. I have NEVER in my life seen so many stars. Knowing that all of you are looking at the same sky…makes me realize just how small this HUGE world is. Now, Today we are on our way to the Ruins. Tourist by day, missionary by night!!! I AM LOVING IT!!! Thanks for all your support. Love, Kim
