So…after a fun filled week we found ourselves completely exhausted. We planned Saturday to be a day full of rest and relaxations…well, that’s not quite the way it went. Planning to sleep late, I found myself woken up at 8 by the advertising car that rides around blaring. We ate breakfast and planned to lay low, relax, and just hang out around the “house”, well that’s not quite the way it went.

About 12 I found myself getting in the car to travel to a town about 45 minutes away to wash clothes and try and get Jessica’s camera fixed. A local came with us; since he knew how to speak some English and we needed help getting around. His name is Elliott and he is in school studying English. He doesn’t get to be around Americans often, so he definitely took advantage of the opportunity that he had. He drilled us and drilled us on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and anything else he could think of.

After spending half of our day in traffic, in a non air-conditioned vehicle, on one of the hottest days we came “home” thinking we would rest and relax. When we pulled up, one of the local guys was climbing a coconut tree to get us all coconuts, so we could drink the milk. I wouldn’t say that I would like to live off of coconut milk, but it was definitely fun to see him climb the tree, get them down, and use a machete to cut the hole in them.

That night (well at 5… 20 minutes after I got home) my team decided to go to town and shop a bit, eat some pizza, and go to the Internet café…so once again, we head out. We shopped, went to the Internet café, and we eat our pizza, then the most amazing thing happened…get ready you aren’t going to believe it… in the middle of Mexico, in Teapa we find… the closest thing to a Starbucks. No…it wasn’t Starbucks, but I have been craving it for 2 weeks and this coffee (actually cappuccino) was so so good.

Sunday, we spent 6 hours in church. The local village people love church and spend hours there. We went to a village church this morning that was in a very swampy area. It is actually a house church with 25 people. We went door to door inviting everyone and then had a service…for 3 hours.

We came home and crashed because we were all completely exhausted and woke up at 5 and had church here at the Pastor’s… for 3 hours. It was a good day/good weekend; we are all just really tired and look forward to getting some much needed rest.

This week will be another full week of ministry. Saturday we will head to
Palenque where we will meet the other teams and have debrief and from there we will “race” to

Guatemala where we have to cross over a lake and hike 4 hours up a volcano. We are definitely talking about getting in shape for that, but that’s about all we are doing…talking!!!!
