During our van ride to Romania, Raul asked us what we wanted to do for adventure days. He offered up the idea of Greece. He would drive us there and we could pool our adventure days together to be able to really experience it. I knew I wouldn’t be able to go. Remember I didn’t have money left for adventures. But my team really wanted me to go. The price was determined by van, not by person, so there was an extra seat available. They made the decision along with the other team we were staying with that month that I could have that extra seat. We loaded up on a Sunday and spent the next three days in beautiful Greece. It wasn’t the Greece you see in movies, but it was the Greece that the Bible talks of. We stayed near Thessaloniki which is the land that the book of Thessalonians was written to.
We drive through Bulgaria to get there. Bulgaria, the country my Grandfather was from. The country he loved so much. The country he had to flee from during WWII. It was such a beautiful time for me to be able to see this beautiful country that shaped a huge part of my life. I never thought I would be able to experience it, but have I mentioned how good god is lately? Well he is so good and he loves his people and giving them the desires of their hearts. I never knew it was a desire to go there, but once I saw it, I knew deep down that was a very special place.
