Jambo~(Hey!) So I’m sure you all have been wondering… We are now in Nairobi, Kenya and we are happy to
say that this month is actually cooler weather!! This month we are going around neighborhoods
trying to build relationships with people, evangelizing in the slums,
teaching in schools..
We are very involved in the Sunday service~(preaching,
worship,
Sunday school classes for
children and adults,
etc…) So as you can see it is a busy month! But we love it!=)
Our contact is great. Pastor Joseph and his wife are great examples to us, and
have been so hospitable with us. This is
their beautiful daughter Patience….
She is so precious!
They have been so hospitable to us.. The Church that we are a part of this month is Deliverance Church of the Southlands. Pastor Joseph shared with us the beautiful story of how they first started this church in a little market area
(the building to the left with the blue on the bottom is the market church) Sorry I don’t have a better picture! But anyways.. At fist the people around the market didn’t like the idea of it, but as the Pastor and his family prayed they decided to love the people in the market and try and work with them. With the little money that the church had they provided the market community with electricity. A response that the community would have least expected from their push back! In turn, people decided to check this church out.. and as the congregation began to grow they began to run out of space..
So they began to pray for God to open up a space for them to move! In time they found a primary school auditorium that would work perfectly.. As the school was in the process of being built previous World Race teams were praying and fasting that this church would be allowed to use this facility as well. And I am honored to say that because of our fellow brothers and sisters prayers, and God’s faithfulness~ We got to see the fruit of their labor! Just 3 months ago Deliverance Church of the Southlands began meeting at Ngei Primary School. God is so good!
They still hold a lunch hour prayer service Monday-Friday at the market location, which is AWESOME! A discipline I would love to take with me..=)
By the way.. Karibu means welcome~ Welcome to Kenya!
