I hope this brings some encouragement to my family.

The lord has prepared a time for each one of us to walk into a new season with him. As my grandparents face a new chapter of their lives together, I cannot help but pray for endless comfort upon them both. A few years back my grandpa suffered a couple strokes, leaving him with little remembrance of who his family is and all he has accomplished in life. Married an amazing woman, raised two sons, owns Christian bookstores, mission work and much more.

Dave may have lost his memories but today God reminded me of how that is just his worldly identity.  As Christians we know our identity was settled at the cross. If anything remains in Dave’s mind I pray intensely that it be he knows he belongs to the loving Father. A place was made for him many years ago when he accepted Christ into his heart.

My grandpa is incredibly generous!
But it isn’t enough to acknowledge that in him. Much like my relationship with God, it wouldn’t be worth the time if I simply praised Him for all the good He has done.

I am called to step out beyond that and SERVE along side Christ.

So as I acknowledge Dave’s good qualities, I want to be bold and say I plan to follow in his footsteps as well. Feed the hungry, heal the sick, clothe the naked.

As it is said:
To accept Christ you lose nothing.
To follow Christ you lose something.
To serve Christ you lose everything.

I believe the World Race is just the beginning of many many ways that Dave’s journey will ripple into mine.

I rejoice today because God really touched my heart when I came to Him seeking comfort. He reassured me that grandpa Dave is in the best hands possible, and that is where his identity forever lies.

Here’s to you, Grandpa Dave! I know the Lord is pleased with how you’ve entrusted your life in him. I am thankful for your devotion and work ethic. It brought Him so much glory- from generation to generation to generations to come.

We trust your intentions God.
We find rest in you.

-I thank you that you are not a God who leaves us broken and in shambles. Through every season of life you allow for us to experience your goodness in new ways.
