Here’s a quick little read for all you future World Racers. Packing for me was extremely hard, in a few months I’ll post a more in depth blog about what to pack, especially if you are a city girl like myself. Bit in the mean time, here are eight things that I literally have on me at all times. (well except for a camera but I use my teammates all the time).
for all my supporters wondering what it looks like in my bag everyday; here is a peak. 🙂
1. (For the females) A Dress: it’s so important that You wear clothes that make you feel yourself on the race, you do have opportunities to wear cute clothes and YOU WILL want to feel human every once in a while (it’s 11 months ppl)
2. A Camera: for all you people who have an eye for photography, cameras capture moments that last a lifetime. It’s a great way to keep your supporters and friends and family back home updated on what you’re doing!
3. HYDROFLASK: it keeps water cool for long periods of time (when you have ice), it’s hip, it can fall out of cars and trucks and not break, it can fall off of the hood of your car and not break, it’s pretty much life-proof, great investment.
4. Bible: you’ll be reading this a lot
5. Essential Oils: it can be used to help you sleep at night, to help with nausea and headaches, to wash your clothes, you can use it as perfume if you need to so you don’t smell homeless.
6. Kavu: some sort of extra back other than your daypack and big pack helps a ton, girls this will be your purse for the year. Kavus go across the body too so it’s a little bit harder for people to steal when driving by.
7. Mug: you can use a camping mug for so many things, you can drink any beverage from it, hot or cold, you can use it to put rocks in, and you can wash people’s feet with it.
8. Pocketknife: you’ll use it more than you think you would. Especially if you get one with scissors in it.
Traveling as much as we do, has opened my eyes to what’s important and what’s extra. These things are a must for my team. Living a minimalist’s dream!
