This past week, our ministry was focused on sex-trafficking. We were dropped off in the middle of the red-light district three days this week. Our goal was to find cafe’s that are being used as prostitution work. Unfortunately my group didn’t come across anything but many of my squad mates did and had some great conversations, even getting some girl’s numbers who want out. So please be praying for those girls!
On Tuesday we did listening prayer for a Word from God and then painted whatever we got on a piece of paper. I wish I would had taken a picture but I forgot, so sorry. I painted some roses and the word ‘Beloved’.
We then walked around the red-light district and gave our paintings to a girl we felt led to give it to.
I had come to the end of my walk and had seen no one interesting when I looked up towards the second floor of a shopping center and saw two girls staring right at Rachel and I. I felt the Holy Spirit tug and grabbed Rachel and headed up the stairs towards them.
When we told then what we were doing and asked some get-to-know-you questions, the girls were so not interested. They just laughed and rolled their eyes. But I felt a wave of confidence and asked if I could pray for them, and one the girls replied with why. As soon as I would respond she would ask why again. Finally she declined and said no to prayer and when we said our goodbyes i saw her put my painting in her purse.
Although the rejection can sting sometimes, I believe that girl will never forget out encounter and will one day pray to God herself.
As for me, being bold about my faith doesn’t come easy. Walking around blindly asking to be led by the Holy Spirit is something new in my walk as well. So this week was a lot of faith testing and realization of where I’m at. Thankfully God meets us where we are, He doesn’t wait for us to get to some grand level. He calls us out of comfort and walks with us through the trials and changes in our hearts.

Here are some pictures of the area we worked in.
