wild children have stolen my heart.

you could take one look at their dirt smeared faces, rotten out teeth, filthy clothes, and ratted up hair… and count them as “untouchable.unreachable.unlovable.”  if not by their appearance, they get categorized by their bad behavior, which in fact is not really their fault.  how can you put full blame on children who just want to be loved?  a hug?  a kiss?  a word of encouragement?  something personal or special for just them?  these children who live in the Roma Villages in Bosnia desire more than anyone I have ever seen to just be loved.

sometimes they appear what we may call “hard or stubborn.”  but it seems to just be a front when you are hurting inside.

and then you see them break out into laughter.  these kids were laughing so hard over face paint.  over silly games of tag.  anything that you could physically do with them, they responded to as feeling like they were somebody.  cast out by society, but loved oh so much by God.  and even though the games, snacks,  and visits are only a temporary happiness for the children…i’m trusting that they will come to know the source of ultimate joy.

they are so precious.  and it’s been such a blessing visiting them regularly.  please keep these families in your prayers and that God would show us anything we can possibly do to go on a deeper level with all of them.

sending so much love…
xoxo
