we are here!!!

hong kong = new york city  πŸ™‚  it seems very similar and im extremely fascinated with this city!  after a 17 hour plane ride we finally made it to our hostel.  it was insane trying to get here because the city was packed with people…and we dont exactly have one tiny bag with us.

its been kind of weird the past few days – sleep wise.  we pretty much skipped thursday altogether in flight.  so thursday night i was up late catching up with my friend nick who lives in hong kong.  (pretty crazy that he is a friend from home!)  friday morning came and we were up early to go get our visas.  i think this was the time we should have been sleeping, but we stayed awake all day and toured the city.  as the day went on, it was really night time at home…or wherever we just came from.  so still no sleep and just a little confused on the day and time.  hehe… but its fun!

friday afternoon we met up with eugene who is our contact taking us into mainland china.  we caught up and did some other necessary training and paperwork.  after this was finished, the team split up and everyone kind of went in their own direction.  i got a hold of nick, and he took kim and i on an amazing walk and boat ride to see the city.  he also treated us to an incredible italian dinner.  we have been spoiled just a little bit πŸ™‚

so here is a little peek into china… the menu at a restaurant, the choice at roadside stands, or our teams pick…mcdys πŸ™‚

today they went to pick up our bus tickets and train tickets.  so here is the story…  we will be leaving tomorrow morning at 8 am to head to the bus station.  from there, we will take a 4 hour bus ride to another city.  once we get to the city, it will be 6 hours before our train leaves.  after we board the train…it will be…36 HOURS.  WOAH.  two nights on the train.  that is crazy to me.  but im sure will be interesting.  so overall, we have a
50+ hour trip ahead of us tomorrow

we also have been so blessed to share a room for a night with another local Christian here.  his name is Benjamin and he is here studying like 10 different languages.  he has invited us to his church, and has been encouraging our whole team through taking the time to get to know us all.

i hope to snap a few shots of the city tonight because it is such a beautiful sight…and will post them before we leave!

i love you all and thanks for your prayers!! πŸ™‚
