in my last post i said i had no idea what tomorrow would hold. 🙂 well that “tomorrow” turned into today, and it was an EXCEPTIONAL day.
we had a study time this morning and then all ventured out to the internet cafe to get some necessary stuff done this afternoon. friske and laura left before the rest of us and decided to walk around for a bit. about an hour later, they came back in with this excitement in their voice…
story goes…they were walking down the street when they heard “heeello” “hi” “heeeello.” they turned to see, and about 5 teenage girls were motioning them to “come here.” so friske and laura entered into what was a beauty shop and was kindly greeted by a little bit of english.
the girls were fascinated with the “americans.” they even took them to a photo shop where they had pictures taken with them. after talking with them through our book, they were able to invite them to a party which we had in their honor tonight.
it was incredible. like 10 chinese girls that ranged in age from 15-18. we also had the hotel manager, his wife, and daughter come in. they were really anxious to hear music and started to clap their hands in preparation. so funny. so friske pulled out her guitar and we all began to sing worship songs. they didnt understand them too much…BUT we have our translator coming to visit us on monday, and so we invited them all back for another party then. we are praying for the opportunity to share Christ with them.
these girls are awesome. so full of joy and life. please keep the next few days in your prayers as we prepare another little celebration for them. also for a profound revelation of Christs’ love to be revealed into their sweet little hearts.
i forgot my camera back in the room…so ill post all my pictures from tonight – tomorrow.
another observation…i dont think their “parties” are quite like americans. we went and bought this sweet bread and cookies, along with drinks. nobody wanted any. 🙁 hehe… i think there is a cultural difference there. fun to learn as you go though!
i did make them these little “friends” notecards and stuck a starburst on each one. definitely jessica style 🙂 i was happy for the chance to be me. hehe.
