If you know me, then you know that last post was very uncomfortable. I do not like the idea of asking others for money especially when it’s something the Lord has called me to, not them.
Honestly, when I first was accepted to World Race, I had the mindset and desire to raise the $16,562 completely on my own. Not only was this completely unrealistic, but it was also completely selfish. And there is no way I could do it even if I gave up all spending for the year.
As I walked through the first few weeks after acceptance and started telling people, everyone seemed to ask what I would need for the race. Jesus decided shortly there after to open my eyes to the fact that NOT fundraising was pride. NOT fundraising was completely selfish. NOT fundraising would make this World Race about me, not about the people I get to serve.
That little quiet space with the Lord showed me that my mindset had to change. I learned in that moment that this race isn’t for me or about me. I get the joy of running it, but Jesus gets to decide who this race is for. And it’s not me. This World Race is OUR World Race [I know it’s cheesy, but seriously, it is].
If I were not to fundraise, I would literally be withholding joy from others. I would intentionally be keeping blessings from people. Some people receive joy from giving — who am I to say that I won’t allow the Lord to bless someone to FULL measure?
So my mindset and desire has been changed. I am trying to listen to Jesus and do what He says everyday with this trip, so here’s what I’m understanding…this trip has nothing to do with me. This trip is to bring joy and blessing to other’s lives starting with the people next to me and eventually around the world.
I know Jesus has a purpose and plan for my life and yours. I think this Race is going to stretch me immensely. I think it’s going to stretch you even more. I don’t know if you feel led to give support through prayer or financially, but I know that the Lord isn’t finished with mine or your heart yet. This is OUR journey…are you willing to journey with me?
I don’t know what Jesus is up to yet, but I’m excited to find out! Praying for joy and blessing for you friend!
