connecting people, places, and things has always been something that i’ve liked to do and now who would have ever thought that in LIMA, PERU i would be doing the same exact thing as i was doing in the states before coming here. it’s on a totally different level though… from asking for skateboard decks to art to be donated it’s now asking for such simple things that people need to live.

-plastic for tarps for their homes.
-buckets to store water in.
-food.
-clothing.

really asking for goods in lima is not much different than asking for donations in the states. you have the same barriers of people saying no – right off the bat BUT if you go in person that has such more of an impact!

and how can they say NO to such an angelic face as this…

[hahahaha – sorry i had to put that in there. it was the perfect lighting while writing this blog.]

i think out of everything – not knowing the city, depending on the CRAZY public transportation, the HEAT which causes exhaustion, and the language barrier. the language barrier has been the hardest for me these past 4 days. God really has been teaching me patience with everything… so much more than i ever had to have before…. and it all started off with last week not getting my dinner for one hour and a half after ordering it after everyone else had eaten their dessert. and of course at that time one of my teammates said “i think God’s trying to teach you patience.” i didn’t want to hear it cause i was hungry.

but patience dear friends patience….a simple concept that needs to be played out in the larger scheme of things.

we have one more week left in chincha… please be praying that some of these other companies in lima come through!

on a positive note one company we met with has already has… we got some “krimpie” snacks for the kids…. but we really would love to provide some water buckets (pretty much plastic trash cans) for the 300 families!

shoot this year is gonna be good.

woohoo!
